My name is Matt Murphy and I've been a personal trainer in Hillingdon for the last 10 years. If I'm perfectly honest I know how hard it is to stay in shape. I have struggled to manage my weight and muscle tone too.

When I was younger I didn’t have too much difficulty. I was a competitive swimmer and when my coach asked me to drop a few pounds I didn't struggle. You see I was doing 15 or more hours of training per week and my mum was cooking all my food. Just a few small tweeks and my body responded quickly.

After leaving University I discovered that I had managed to put on 3 stone!

When I decided to do something about this extra weight I realised I didn’t really know what to do. Even though I’d spent 3 years at University studying sports science.

So I pulled out my books from university and read through all the chapters I hadn’t bothered reading before. I grabbed copies of fitness magazines and started trying to accumulate more and more knowledge. Within twelve weeks I had quit my job, signed up to a personal training course, dropped about 10% body fat, oh and did my first triathlon. (Some where along the line I had learned a few things)

I then spent time working in loads of gyms where there were too many people not achieving the results that they deserved.

I ended up asking more questions than answering.

Like;
• Why did some people lose weight quicker than others?
• Why did a specific diet work for one person but not another?
• What are the best ways to exercise?
• What diet should people follow?

I had become the most successful trainer at my gym yet I still didn’t know the answers to all these questions.

I’d had enough!

I went back to my books, I spoke to the best trainers I knew and asked for their ideas and opinions. I hunted down the best nutrition and coaches in the world. • You will be required to make the necessary dietary changes that are recommended to you by your trainer. These will include removing certain foods from your diet for at least 30 days; this includes wheat & wheat based products, processed foods, alcohol, tea and coffee.
• You will be expected to make positive changes to your lifestyle that your trainer will discuss with you.
• You will need to maintain a positive attitude towards your training and keep your long-term goals in mind.
